Planetfilm is a German based production-company for movies, documentaries and other formats run by Claudius and Christoph Gehr.
Claudius Gehr
Claudius´ dedication for the movies starts when he had the chance to serve as an extra in Jerry Schatzberg´s „Reunion“ (1989 with Jason Robards, Christien Anholt, Samuel West, Françoise Fabian) then followed by serving as 1st Assistant Director in one of the first 4 graduate-films of the newly born Filmacademy Ludwigsburg, „Twilight“, directed by Achim Bornhak, which was nominated for the student Academy Awards. In the early 1990s Claudius worked three years for WNET/Channel13 in New York City and German public television ZDF in its headquarters in Mainz. He was nominated as best young emerging journalist (Axel Springer Prize) before starting with planetfilm. As a journalist Claudius wrote for reknown publications such as Vogue, Die Zeit or Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung. As an Executive Producer he lectured at the University of Arts Berlin as well as at the University of Seville.
Christoph Gehr
Christoph shares his passion for film with his love for architecture and has been the backbone of Planetfilm ever since. He experimented as a researcher with sound and space at the University of the Arts in Berlin and composes electronic music, too.
Hugo Gehr
With the incorporation of Claudius`son Hugo as a part-time Junior Producer in 2024 Planetfilm puts an additional focus on fictional content and series for a younger audience. In the past Hugo was already nominated and has won several international prizes for his short fiction film “Libres” and his short animated film “Una misión para ella” such as first places in festivals like MICE (Spain 2020), GUKIFF (South Korea 2021), FESTICORTOS (Argentina 2019) and Yo Veo (Chile 2019) for “Libres” in the Nature Independent Film Festival (UK 2021) and the Ocean Youth Eco IFF (China 2022) for his animated film “Una misión para ella”. Apart from winning prizes, he was also nominated various times all around the globe in festivals in the USA, Greece, India, Brasil, Russia, Colombia, India, Portugal, Georgia and Mexico.
Planetfilm has been developing, producing and selling successfully worldwide films for clients such as ARD, ZDF, ARTE, 3sat or National Geographic.
